Avis Rent A Car has won the 2008 World Travel Award for the “World’s Leading Business Car Rental Company.”The annual World Travel Awards acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry, based upon feedback from experts in the travel profession.
“The World Travel Awards are regarded as the highest achievement in the travel industry,” said Graham Cooke, president and founder of the World Travel Awards. “Votes were cast by more than 160,000 experienced travel professionals around the world and to be recognized by these individuals demonstrates Avis’ excellence and achievements.” “We are proud to accept this distinguished honor on behalf of the thousands of Avis employees who do whatever it takes for their customers,” said Tom Gartland, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Avis Budget Group, parent company of Avis Rent A Car. Mean while, Avis Nigeria a member of Avis Europe family; a leading car rental company operating in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, has opened additional 15 outlets across the country where its teeming customers could enjoy its seamless services. From the modest one location it started with in 2007, Avis has expanded across all parts of Nigeria to places such as Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Yenagoa, Uyo and Asaba, all in the South South geopolitical zone, Owerri in the South East and Abuja, the nation’s capital. Avis Nigeria’s Managing Director, Kolawole Ogunbajo, explained that the move is consistent with the long time objective of positioning the company to become the market leader in the car rental sector of the economy. “From a modest one-outlet outfit two years ago, we have opened new ones (outlets) in other city centres away from Lagos. We are currently pursuing an aggressive marketing drive to expand the scope of our operations beyond the major city centres in Nigeria.” “We are also trying to partner more with other critical players in the tourism and allied sector with a view to working out a mutually workable arrangementsthat would see us expand our operations.” Ogunbajo said. |
