SA Tourism hosts Nigerian ‘story tellers’ PDF Print E-mail

Story Teller Couple, Gbenga and Ibidolapo Akinyombo receive prize from SA Tourism Regional Director, Africa, Phumi DhlomoSA Tourism recently hosted a cocktail function to honour two Nigerian ‘Story Tellers” couples -Chief and Mrs. Sonny Iroche and Mr. and Mrs. Olugbenga Akinyombo.
The lavish cocktail event was held at the palatial Independence Hall of the new wing of Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos to honour the two couples who took part in the SA Tourism’s novel marketing campaign, dubbed: “Surprise and delight me” which is targeted at wooing more business professionals, hyper-wealthy individuals, entertainers
and media to see South Africa as their destination of choice.
The story tellers were treated like royals to an all-expenses paid trip to South Africa to see the scenic beauty, the vast array of attractions with which the country is endowed and also to enjoy the warm and lavish hospitality of the South African people. It was a night filled with glamour and glitz. The crème de la crème of the Nigerian Society; the hyper wealthy, Business professionals, former and present diplomats , former Governors, technocrats,and Politicians all turned up to witness this remarkable event, during which the story
tellers couples related their exciting and memorable experiences in South Africa to the audience, who had earlier watched a short video documentary of their journey.
The hall was aglow  with a hue of light effects and South African colours, festooned at every corner of the hall were SAT banners displaying various sites of South Africa.
• Over 130 guests were present at the Event.
• The South African Highcommission was represented by the Consular officer, SAHC Lagos, Martin Matloga and the First Secretary Administration, Masibigiri Ntevheleni.
• 10 media representatives were there to interview the story tellers and dignitaries present at the function.
• Guests were treated to a vast array of choice wine , champagne and the finest of cuisines.
• Judith Sephuma,the South African Music diva thrilled the guests from her scintillating repertoire of songs and majority of the guests danced in excitement.
