| Afriqiyah acquires 2 Airbus A319. |

Libyan intercontinental carrier, Afriqiyah Airways has taken delivery of its two Airbus A319 in Tripoli, Libya just as it increases its Dubai, United Arab Emirate frequencies to four times weekly. The General Manager of the Airline in Nigeria, Mr Abdulmajid Adem disclosed that the acquisition of the two 124-seater Airbus A319 is part of the airline’s continuous plan to expand its international routes and increase frequencies to high-demanding routes. Recently in Cairo, Egypt, Afriqiyah Airways was honoured with African Aviation Award 2007 by the African Aviation magazine at the 17th Session of the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centres of Aircraft (MRO) conference in Cairo, Egypt, held April 1-4, 2008. The award which was in recognition of the outstanding services the airline had been rendering since its creation in December 2001 was received by the chairman of Afriqiyah Airways, Mr Sabri Saad Shadi. Later this year we shall receive two new A319-100ER aircraft and then, subject to approval, plan to add further destinations to its network, as far as Istanbul, Dubai and Mumbai. |
